New Web Development Tool

There’s a new web development tool on the market called “Notable”, designed by Zurb for their internal use because none of the existing tools really did the job. I’m looking forward to giving it a try. It should help with collaboration with subcontractors, but may also help correspondence with clients.

Multiple Domains, One Site

There are several ways to get “extra” domains to send a user to your main Web site, but some of these are considered “bad” by the search engines, and you may be punished by having your site removed from the indexes. The best way to ensure that users who try to go to a “.co.uk” site, even though you’ve told them your domain ends in “.com” is to register the “.co.uk” domain, and forward it to the “.com” address.

Pointing Your Domain Name

So you registered a domain name, but you want to host your site with someone else. Good idea, since it’s advisable not to have all your eggs in one basket. But what happens when someone types your domain into their browser? Right now, it probably goes to a “holding” page on your registrar’s site. If you plan to host with a different company, you need a way to tell the registrar where to look for the site: you need to “point” your domain.
