Help
You can’t be an expert in all things. Most businesses, large and small, have bookkeepers and accountants to help keep the finances in order. A book store manager is probably much more skilled in management than in literature (although it helps). And when the company van breaks down, you probably take it to a mechanic, rather than trying to fix it yourself. So why do so many people feel bad that they don’t know more about the Web? Why should they? That’s our job.You let your mechanic take care of your van, so let your Web developer take care of your site. You’ll need to tell us what colour you want it to be, and what to put on it, in the same way you decide what colour your car is and what extras you want. But you don’t build your own car. Neither should you feel you have to know everything about the Web.
We’ll guide you when there are things you should know, and ask for your input when it’s necessary, but then you can sit back and relax while the project gets underway.
Sometimes things do go wrong. If you had someone else do your site before, and we’re taking over from them, we’ll need to hash out how to get access to the server so that we can upload the new version. And if your previous developer is holding your domain name ransome, we’ll have to work together to get it back under your control. But that’s the kind of stuff we’re here for. We’ll tell you what to do and let you get on with it, hold your hand, or take over and do it for you, depending on your level of comfort. All you need to do is ask.
